A holistic focus on education

About Holara

At Holara, we believe children should be given tools, skills and every other opportunity to develop to their full potential.

Thushika Kularathne

Thushika has spent the past 10 years navigating high-pressure environments, from ortho trauma wards and oncology units, to busy classrooms filled with curious, energetic students.

These experiences taught her a simple but powerful truth: real learning goes beyond facts and procedures. It’s about adapting, reflecting, and understanding the world around us.

As a registered nurse, Thushika worked across specialties including orthopedics, neurology, rehabilitation, mental health, and even prison healthcare, gaining experience in complex situations and learning to stay calm, observant, and solution-focused. As a primary school teacher, she has taught classroom subjects alongside visual and performing arts and physical education, nurturing creativity, curiosity, and confidence in young learners.

She holds a Bachelor of Nursing and a Master of Teaching, combining deep practical insight with educational expertise.

Driven by a passion for making a real impact in society, Thushika founded Holara Education to help students create the foundations for change.

Why I started Holara Education

Across both nursing and teaching, I noticed the same gap:

We teach people what to think, but not how to think. We reward compliance over curiosity and prepare students for tests, not for life.

I started Holara Education because I believe students deserve more. They deserve practical tools to understand themselves, manage challenges, think clearly, and navigate a world that’s only getting more complex.

My mission is to help young people grow into capable, confident, and self-aware adults, not just academically prepared, but prepared for life to come.
