Self development -Students will develop skills in consistency, persistence, resilience, healthy habits, communication, personal growth, and decision-making.
Financial understanding - Students will learn the importance of saving, develop saving strategies, and explore a realistic perspective of how money works in society. This is not financial advice, but covers the basics of real-world financial understanding.
How society and the world works - Students will develop a holistic understanding of societal constructs: how the world works together, and how it doesn’t. We explore strategies to improve ourselves and the world, with kindness and compassion at the forefront.
Self directed project with support - Using the knowledge gained throughout the year, students will commence a self-directed project with guidance and structure. This allows them to apply their learning and develop a deeper understanding of their mindset and personal development skills.
The program is designed to run over a 12-month period and operates on either Saturday or Sunday for 8 weeks each school term.
Each session runs for 1.5 hours.

In this subject, students train to develop a growth mindset and learn strategies to manage challenges. They will understand the process of how habits are formed to actively create and master trying new things. Mindset and Mindfulness helps students build mental strength and self-awareness. Students will learn that intelligence, skills, and habits are not fixed and can be developed through effort, practice, and persistence. Through mindfulness activities, reflection, and discussion, students will learn how to manage stress, stay present, and respond positively to challenges. This subject supports students in developing confidence, focus, and a healthy approach to learning and life.

Self-Development helps students build the skills they need to succeed in school and in life. Students will learn how to stay consistent, keep going when things get hard, and bounce back from challenges. They will develop healthy habits, strong communication skills, and better decision-making strategies. Through activities, reflection, and real-life scenarios, students will be supported to grow personally, set goals, and understand themselves better. Along the way, they will learn that progress takes time, mistakes are part of learning, and persistence leads to confidence and success.
Financial Understanding introduces students to the basics of managing money in the real world. Students will learn why saving is important, how to create simple saving strategies, and how money is used in everyday life. Through practical examples and realistic scenarios, students will build awareness around spending, budgeting, and making informed financial choices. This subject focuses on real-world knowledge and confidence with money, helping students feel more prepared for life beyond school.

Students explore how people, communities, and systems interact across the world. Students will develop a broad understanding of how society functions, where it works well, and where it doesn’t. Through discussion, real-world examples, and reflection, students will examine different perspectives and learn how their actions impact others. With kindness, compassion, and responsibility at the centre, students will explore ways to improve themselves and contribute positively to the world around them.

Students will organise, manage, and create their own project of choice. This may involve creating something from scratch, learning a new skill, or developing a business idea. Students will be supported to apply and trial the skills they develop throughout the year, encouraging them to step outside their comfort zone and try something new. Whether they succeed or fail, students will learn the value of effort, persistence, and “having a go,” helping to solidify a strong growth mindset.
